If Western Power’s outage map shows no incident in your area + your neighbours have power, the fault is between the street pole and your switchboard. Five-step diagnostic to localise it before booking.
The 5-step diagnostic
Check the main switch on your switchboard
Open the switchboard. Find the main switch (top-left, usually labelled MAIN SWITCH). Is it on? If it tripped, that is a major fault. Call an electrician straight away, do not just flip it back on.
Check the RCDs + breakers
If main switch is on, check every RCD + circuit breaker. Any tripped (lever pointing down)? Reset them one at a time. If they trip immediately, see our RCD diagnostic guide.
Check your service fuse (if accessible)
Some Perth properties have a service fuse between the meter + the switchboard. If accessible + visibly blown, call an electrician immediately. DO NOT touch.
Check the meter is showing voltage
Look at your electricity meter. Most modern smart meters show V or VOLTAGE. Should read 230-250V. Below 200V = supply issue, call Western Power. 0V = supply issue despite outage map.
Still off everywhere?
Likely a main supply cable fault between street + property, or an internal fault upstream of your switchboard. Licensed electrician needs to test + coordinate with Western Power. Real human on our 24/7 line.
